A Glimpse into
the World of Disability
Finding the Forgotten is a program of the Joni and Friends Pennsylvania office. Joni and Friends desires to see churches and communities inspired and equipped for disability ministry. Finding the Forgotten strives to promote a biblical worldview on disability ministry and mobilize participants into holistic action. This multi-sensory exhibit takes you through a 30 minute experience where you encounter stories of families affected by disability. Through compelling audio and realistic visuals you have the opportunity to see how disability manifests itself both here in America and around the world. We invite you to explore your role in responding to Luke 14:21,23 “Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame...and compel them to come in
so that my house will be full”.
After the experience, groups are able to debrief with Joni and Friends Pennsylvania staff. There is opportunity to further explore practical ways of being more involved with disability ministry in one’s local church and community. We invite groups and individuals to explore ways they can be further mobilized into greater action to and with people affected by disabilities.
“I assumed the experience would focus on the differences between my life and those affected by disability, but often found more familiarity with them. These are real people who share similar dreams, interests and activities like mine. Finding the Forgotten creates a vision of value and connection.”
